Sydney's First Birthday!!!!

This is AM finally posting something...back from the dead!!! It has just been so insane that I just do not have any spare time to sit down peacefully and post or email or rejoin my friends from the referral wait on my groups...I am very sad, but there just aren't enough hours in the day. Any spare time I have is cleaning, doing laundry(which has doubled since Syd has been home), showering, doing projects like cleaning out closets and drawers etc...no time for mommy :(

Anyway...back to the original reason for posting!
Sydney Marie XinYan Rogers celebrated her 1st Birthday on January 21st!!! We did not have time to plan any type of get together for her B-Day so it was just a quiet night at home with just me, daddy, Kyle, Spencer and Syd. She had her dinner and then stripped down for surprises that awaited. She wore her birthday suit, plus a diaper. While Spencer and I were getting her presents out of boxes and undoing those awful twisty plastic things (that you need bolt cutters to get the darn toys out), daddy was entertaining her in another room. We tied balloons on her walker and got all the toys out and ready.

We set up all the toys on the floor and then she came in...her eyes got even bigger than they already are!

She got stacking stars that play music, and a play phone

a remote control from Kyle,

a rattle that plays classical music from Spencer,

a push it walker thing that is like a mailbox,

and a silly monkey that has wobbly arms and makes monkey sounds and music when you touch his head...he also rolls around the floor for Syd to catch him!!!!

She had fun playing with these new things for a while. After that was cake time! Daddy had chosen those disgusting cupcake things with the mile high pound of icing that is like a fat and cholesterol injection to your heart. The color dyes in these things would stain human skin permanently so needless to say...this was the reason for the stripping of clothes!! I was NOT going to ruin any shred of clothing for her to eat this!

She sat in her high chair and was presented with the box of cup cakes and needed to choose which one she wanted...she took one look at these things and slammed her fist down in a gross green one. Ok...green it is. She didn't know quite what to make of this thing and was more interested in squishing the icing in her fingers.

As soon as we showed her this was to eat, she went to town on it. The pictures below will give you a visual of the carnage that became of her cupcake.

After the cake was done...we had completely forgotten to sing Happy Birthday to her...OMG, are we bad or what??? So we quickly lit a candle, stuck it in another one and sang to her. Only a keen eye would have noticed that we faked the events by switching the cupcake color in the photos...LOL.

Ok...now it is bed time and she was tired and full of cake, so after a bath that clogged the tub drain with cake particles, into PJ's, a bottle and bed...Ahhhhh.

The next week we decided to try to have the party we couldn't do for her B-Day. We called some close friends and neighbors and had a little get together. Queen Sydney decided that today she did not want to take a nap which would have been the set up for a good afternoon...NOT!!! She was so cranky the whole time, so sad as there were quite a few people there who were meeting her for the first time...Oh Well!!! She got some adorable clothes, cute dollies, great books, and a toy electronic drum!!! Thank you everyone who came and Sydney thanks you for the gifts. We put on the "Gotcha Day" video for a few folks to watch and before we knew it, she had passed out and fell asleep. Didn't do the cake(again), didn't sing Happy Birthday(again)...oh well...try again next year. Here is the pic of the cake that was eaten by everyone BUT Sydney!!!

PS... If you haven't noticed by now...she LOVES Elmo!
